When someone offers you a glass of water, you might be tempted to ask yourself, “Is the glass half-full? Or half-empty?” Does it matter? To one long bereft of hydration, tongue dry and lips aching, even a half-glass of relief might seem all too tempting. But are we so full of thirst that we are willing to accept glasses containing only as much cold water as hot air?

Water is nourishment. Water is life. Water cleanses and washes, pouring over all flaws and not holding them up to your nose in the reflection of its surface. Water is the steady flow that lovingly raises the flower up from the soil and pushes it toward heaven. Water is the promise of plenty, the unconditional patience to let things become.

So when it comes to glasses, why do we settle for anything less than full, or (at the very least) slowly filling?

“HALF-EMPTY” asks: Are we weaving our destinies? Or are we in bed with toxic distractions?
